Julie Jordan, PT

Julie Jordan completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Georgia State University in 1988, after which she taught Mathematics in Swaziland with the Peace Corps. After returning to the US, she worked as a data analyst for social science research projects with Washington State DSHS. She then moved to New Mexico to pursue an MA in Education with a focus on Curriculum, Instruction, and Multicultural Teacher Education which she completed in 1994. In total, she taught mathematics for 10 years at the middle school, high school, and college levels. In 2000, Julie completed a BS in Physical Therapy from UNM. Since becoming licensed, she has studied extensively with North American Institute of Manual Therapy, and the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine. Julie was awarded her Orthopaedic Clinical Specialty Certification in 2010. In 2013, she became certified in Dry Needling through Kinetacore.

Julie has worked in a variety of clinical areas including rehabilitation and outpatient orthopedics. From 2005 to 2008, she collaborated with Active Life Orthotics and Prosthetics to establish the Amputee Wellness Center which provided pro bono consultation, a community support group, and exercise facilities for amputees. Julie co-taught a running evaluation and treatment course for physical therapists at the 2010 NM APTA Symposium. Additionally, she has provided educational presentations for coworkers, and she has guest lectured at UNM PT program in the Administration and Prosthetics courses.

Presently, Julie provides orthopaedic physical therapy services at the outpatient clinic at Lovelace Women’s hospital, and works as part time faculty at UNM PT program as an assistant instructor for Gross Anatomy.
