Dr. Kakish specializes in lower limb reconstructive surgery, the treatment of hip and knee arthroplasty, and orthopaedic trauma surgery. He joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico upon completing his Trauma Fellowship in 2017.

Dr. Kakish is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

His research interests include patient related outcome measures following hip and knee arthroplasty, and outcomes following peri-prosthetic fracture management.
